New Delhi: As India’s daily spike of coronavirus cases witnesses a dip with only 2,59,591 new fresh infections recorded in the last 24 hours, the number of deaths due to COVID-19 continues to remain alarmingly high with 4,209 more fatalities.
According to the Union Health Ministry, the country also saw a massive jump in the number of recoveries with 3,57,295 fresh discharges.
The cumulative caseload stands at 2,60,31,991, including 2,27,12,735 recoveries, 30,27,925 active cases and 2,91,331 deaths.
As per the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), a total of 32,44,17,870 samples have been tested for COVID-19 up to May 20, of these, 20,61,683 samples were tested on Wednesday.
