The Union Health Ministry has approved two vaccines, Covishield and Covaxin, under Emergency Use Authorisation (EAU).
Covid-19: Kerala continues to report the highest daily new cases at 6,268. It is followed by Maharashtra with 2,771, while Tamil Nadu reported 509 new cases.
Coronavirus in India: On January 16, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the world's largest inoculation drive against COVID-19. The drive is estimated to cover about 3 crore people by the end of its first phase.
The main focus of the Guidelines is to consolidate the substantial gains that have been achieved against the spread of COVID-19 which is visible in the steady decline in number of active and new cases in the country over the last four months.
Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) on Tuesday informed, "A total of 19,30,62,694 samples are tested for COVID-19 up to January 25. Of these, 7,25,577 samples were tested yesterday."
As the countrywide inoculation programme is underway, 16,15,504 people were vaccinated in the last 24 hours.
India witnessed 14,849 COVID-19 cases, 15,948 recoveries, and 155 fatalities in the past 24 hours. With 15,948 recovered cases in the last 24 hours, a net decline of 1,254 cases has been recorded in the total active cases in last 24 hours.
In a bid to fight the pandemic, India has supplied COVID-19 vaccines to its neighbors including Bhutan, Maldives, Nepal, Myanmar, and Bangladesh.
According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), a total of 19,09,85,119 samples had been tested for COVID-19 up to January 22, of which 8,37,095 samples were tested on Friday.
