New Delhi: With days left for Delhi Assembly elections, Congress released its list of 40 star campaigners. The list includes many prominent names including all former MPs but excludes Sandeep Dikshit, son of three-time chief minister, late Sheila Dikshit.
What’s more surprising is that Navjot Singh Sidhu found a place in the list despite being cold-shouldered by the high command over his tiff with Capt Amarinder Singh. He also resigned from Amarinder’s cabinet following differences with him.
Party insiders say dropping Sandeep Dikshit from star campaigners list is surprising and shocking, especially when the party has not much to talk about other than development works in Sheila Dikshit regime.

‘Not included b/c of some leaders in AICC’
In fact, Sandeep Dikshit himself attributed as differences with some AICC leaders as the reason behind it.
Sandeep Dixit, Congress: I have a deep dispute with those handling Delhi Congress from the AICC level, I’m not talking about Subhash Chopra, so I don’t think I’ll get a call from there. But I’ve always worked for Congress. I’ll work for the party as & when required. (23.01.2020) https://t.co/rt2NhfYl5w

Speaking to media, Dikshit said his name was not included in the list because he has differences with some leaders of the AICC but he will work for the party and will campaign in his old constituency for the party candidates in the assembly polls of Delhi.
‘Sheila’s legacy can’t be forgotten’
The Congress has named 40 leaders including party chief Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi, former prime minister Manmohan Singh and Navjot Singh Sidhu to establish direct connect with the electorate.
Sandeep Dikshit also said that the contribution of her mother and former chief minister of Delhi, Sheila Dikshit could not be forgotten as she had done a lot for Delhi. (ANI)
