ABVP seeks JNU administration’s intervention in academic extension for final year submitting research scholars

ABVP has requested the Registrar office to provide further extension for all submitting research students so that students can effectively utilize their academic duration as the unlock procedures unfold.

New Delhi: The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) has sought urgent intervention of JNU Administration in seeking an additional academic extension for all final year submitting research scholars. This demand is being sought to make-up the time lost during COVID-19 lockdown.

Though the administration had earlier provided an extension, it could not be utilized by the students as there was no access to laboratories and library facilities causing a further delay in pursuing academic research by many students hailing from financially weaker section and interior regions.

Therefore, ABVP has requested the Registrar office to provide further extension for all submitting research students so that students can effectively utilize their academic duration as the unlock procedures unfold.

Shivam Chaurasia, President ABVP –JNU said, “The academic research of almost all the students have been either irregular or has come to a halt for months together since the lockdown began and this has caused enormous academic backlog for research scholars. Even after providing an extension earlier the students could not use the university facilities such as laboratory and library. Therefore we are demanding an additional extension for all final year submitting research students.”

Govind Dangi, Secretary ABVP – JNU said, _“The need of the hour is to bring about a close coordination between the unlocking of all academic process in accordance with the extension that will be provided by the university administration. No amount of extension is useful if the administration of not going to grant access to laboratory and library facilities.”
