CBSE class 10, 12 results by July 15: Here is how students will be assessed

“Results of Class X, XII based upon the assessment scheme will be declared by July 15, 2020, so that candidates can apply and seek admission in Higher Education institutes,” the HRD Minister said.

CBSE board exams begins today

New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Friday accepted the revised assessment scheme notification submitted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). Both CBSE and ICSE informed the top court that the results of Class 10 and 12 board exams can be declared by mid of July.

Students will be marked for pending subjects on the basis of board examinations already conducted, the CBSE told the SC.

As CBSE decided to cancel the examinations for classes X and XII in the view of coronavirus outbreak, Union Human Resources Development (HRD) Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ said that results based upon the assessment scheme will be declared by July 15.

“Keeping in view the request received from various State Governments and the prevailing circumstances due to Covid 10, CBSE has decided to cancel the Examinations for classes X and XII which were scheduled to be held from 1st July to 15th 2020,” read a release from the Ministry of Human Resource Development.

“Results based upon the aforesaid assessment scheme will be declared by July 15, 2020, so that candidates can apply and seek admission in Higher Education institutes,” the HRD Minister said.

How marks of students will be calculated

# For the students of both classes-10 and 12, who have completed all their examinations, their results will be declared based on their performance in the examinations.
• For students who have appeared in the examinations in more than 3 subjects, the average of the marks obtained in best three performing subjects will be awarded in the subjects whose examinations have not been conducted.
• For students who have appeared in the examinations in only 3 subjects, the average of the marks obtained in the best two performing subjects will be awarded in the subjects whose examinations have not been conducted.
• For students of class 12, mainly from Delhi, who have appeared in the examinations in only 1 or 2 subjects, their results will be declared based on performance in the appeared subjects and performance in internal/practical project assessment.
• These students will also be allowed to appear in the optional examinations conducted by CBSE to improve their performance, if they desire to do so. Result of these students will also be declared along with other students.

For candidates in class 10, no further examination will be conducted and the results declared by the CBSE will be treated as final .

Students may opt for taking exam if not satisfied with result

HRD Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal said that CBSE students of class X may opt for taking the exam if they are not satisfied by the result which will be declared on July 15.

“The result will be calculated on the exams which have already been given but the students who think they could have done better if they had taken exams, they may opt for giving exams. This option will be open for the student who have not taken exams for all the subjects,” said the HRD minister.
