Gujarat eases norms, allows purchase of agri land for educational purpose without prior approval from DC

New Delhi: GujaratChief Minister Mr. Vijay Rupanitoday took one more important decision adopting a radical revenue reform approach to accelerate Ease of doing business.

A meeting of the state cabinet chaired by the Chief Minister Mr. Vijay Rupanion Wednesday decided to make significant amendments to the provisions of the Ganot laws.As a result of the important decision by CM wide opportunities for development in the fields of agriculture, animal husbandry, education and health will open up in the state. Not only that, more industrial investments can also be attracted in the state.

According to the decision, one can purchase agriculture land for agricultural universities, animal husbandry universities, medical colleges, engineering colleges or other educational purpose without taking any prior approval from the District Collector.

After purchasing such land, the project work can be started within the stipulated time by informing the District Collector within a month obtaining the required certificates.

In the past, non-agricultural organizations or individuals had to get the approval of the District Collector for the purchase of such land, which was a timely process and resulted to delay in start of project.

Following the successes of the Vibrant Summit and the encouragement given by the state government to the industry sector, Gujarat has become the Best Destination for Industrial Investment.As a result of this development of industries, employment opportunities have also arisen on a large scale.Gujarat’s contribution to the national economy in the industrial sector has gradually increased to 16.85 per cent in 2018-19.To further boost the industrial sector, the state government has also decided to amend the Ganot laws.

Accordingly, if land has been purchased for bonafide industrial purpose in the state but cannot be used for industrial purpose, the land may be sold for purpose other than industry as per the provisions of GDCR.

In case of such lands, merger of the company, joint venture, amalgamation or sale of land transferred to its own subsidiary, group company or associate company will not be considered as transfer.

This decision of the State Cabinet headed by Chief Minister will alleviate the difficulties faced by the industrialists in revenue issues.This decision will be another milestone in the many initiatives taken by the Chief Minister for smooth and transparent administration of revenue processes in the state.

New opportunities for development and employment will be generated as a result of this decision.
