Lockdown 5.0: Schools, colleges may open in Phase II with approval from state govts

Each state government is supposed to consult all stakeholders and parents while taking the final decision of reopening educational institutes in their area.

New Delhi: With the Lockdown 5.0 coming into force specifically in containtment zones from June 1-30, several activities are scheduled to begin in phased manner.

Under Phase I, religious places, shopping malls and restaurant will begin operation from June 8.

Schools, colleges, training/coaching institutions will be allowed to start operations in Phase II, which will apparently begin in July. However, that will require approval and consent of the respective state govts.

Each state government is supposed to consult all stakeholders and parents while taking the final decision of reopening educational institutes in their area. Schools and colleges in containment zones, however, will remain shut till June 30, 2020, as only essential services are allowed in such areas.


Schools, colleges closed since March 16

Educational institutions including schools, colleges have been shut since March 16, days before lockdown was imposed across the nation.

All entrance exams, board exams have been deferred till July to ensure safety of students.  Many universities are now looking at possibility of starting session from September.
