Representatives from four of the oldest and most prestigious boarding schools for girls in the United States visited schools in Delhi and Mumbai this week to engage with local educators, gain insight into the Indian education system, and highlight opportunities for Indian students to pursue high school studies abroad.
The visiting delegation included school leaders from Dana Hall School (near Boston, www.danahall.org), Emma Willard School (New York, www.emmawillard.org), The Madeira School (near Washington, DC, www.madeira.org), and Westover School (Connecticut, www.westoverschool.org), schools known for their commitment to empowering young women through rigorous academics, leadership development, and global citizenship.
During the visit, the representatives met with students and school administrators of seven different schools with the goal to foster connections between the Indian and U.S. education communities while offering students a closer look at the transformative experience of studying at an American girls’ boarding school.
“Our schools are deeply committed to preparing girls to lead with confidence and purpose,” said one of the delegates. “This visit is an exciting opportunity to listen, learn, and share what our schools offer young women from around the world.” The variety of Indian schools, the attentive engagement of the students and the insightful questions they posed impressed the U.S. delegation. The U.S. schools share the some similar values and at the same time each school is unique.
