New Delhi: Gandhinagar, Gujarat played host to the 69th annual gala on January 28, 2024. Karan Johar, a filmmaker, and producer, hosted the event. The 69th Filmfare Awards were a smashing success, with Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt taking home the top prizes of Best Actors for their praising performances.
On Sunday, at the ceremony in Gujarat, Ranbir Kapoor was honoured for his performance in the controversial film Animal by Sandeep Reddy Vanga as Best Actor in a Leading Role (Male). Alia Bhatt, for her part in Karan Johar’s romantic family drama Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, was presented with the coveted trophy for Best Actor in a Leading Role (Female).

The biographical drama 12th Fail, directed by Vidhu Vinod Chopra, won Best Film, beating out Animal, Jawan, OMG 2, Pathaan, and Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani. Chopra was also named Best Director.

Subsequently, the film Joram, directed by Devashish Makhija, was awarded Best Film (Critics’) by Filmfare. As for the actors, the Best Actor (Critics’) award went to Vikrant Massey (12th Fail), Rani Mukerji (Mrs Chatterjee Vs. Norway), and Shefali Shah (Three Of Us).
