Are you so creatively bankrupt?: Deepika Padukone’s ad accused of plagiarism by Yeh Ballet director Sooni Taraporevala

Sooni Taraporevala director of the film ‘Yeh Ballet’ has accused Levi’s for plagiarism and copying her work without her consent.

New Delhi: Last week Deepika Padukone shared an advertisement for the apparel brand Levi’s who made her their global ambassdor recently. Now, Sooni Taraporevala director of the film ‘Yeh Ballet’ has accused Levi’s for plagiarism and copying her work without her consent.

She said on her Instagram post, “Copycat culture in India needs to be called out and cancelled. You would think a foreign production company and director would know better. Are you so creatively bankrupt? What were you thinking? @levis_in @nadiaeye @offroadfilms @rupinsuchak @newland.tv.”

Yeh Ballet was released on Netflix in 2019. The film is based on two Mumbai kids, trying to fulfill their dream of dancing the ballet while going against their families and the society.

Many bollywood actor praised the ad including her husband, Ranveer Singh, actor Ayushmann Khurrana, her future co-star Hrithik Roshan, and others.

Deepika has not been on silver screen since Chhapaak. She is currently woorking in Pathan with Shah Rukh Khan, and she recently concluded the shoot of Shakune Batra’s domestic noir. After ‘Pathan’ she has ‘Fighter’ with Hrithik Roshan, in the line.
