As Laal Singh Chaddha turns out dud, Aamir Khan may forgo fees: Report

Some reports suggest that Aamir Khan has come forward to absorb the losses himself and not let the negative publicity affect the producers of movie.

New Delhi: Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor starrer movie Laal Singh Chaddha ended up at the Box Office as a total disaster. It failed to garner even less than 60 crore, much lower than the cost incurred in making the marathon movie.

Now, reports suggest that Aamir Khan has come forward to absorb the losses himself and not let the negative publicity affect the producers of movie.

“If Aamir Khan charges his acting fees, Viacom 18 Studios would have incurred losses of about Rs 100 crores. However, that is something that Aamir Khan has decided to absorb himself. Now, the producer will lose nominal money,” said sources privy to inside information.

Aamir starrer LSC has been at the receiving end even before its release. The groundswell of resistance and anger against the Aamir-starrer was something no one could have imagined. It was only after the movie hit theatres, the impact of boycott calls became apparent. Many shows across the nation were cancelled, while many theatres saw very sparse audience.

Aamir Khan took almost 4 years in making this film. It is the official remake of Hollywood film Forrest Gump, featuring Tom Hanks. The hindi adaption of the movie starred Kareena Kapoor Khan, Naga Chaitanya and Mona Singh in crucial roles.

Even before its release, Laal Singh Chaddha made headlines due to multiple controversies. The netizens called for a boycott of the movie over past statements of Aamir Khan & Kareena. The two cine stars sought to damage control by requesting fans to ‘not fall for boycott trend’ and rather visit theatres to watch the movie but their coaxing failed to stem the losses.
