Ayan Mukerji reveals Ranbir Kapoor didn’t charge any money for starring in ‘Brahmastra’

The director talked about the sacrifices and dedication of the actor toward the project. He revealed that Ranbir has not charged any fees for acting in Brahmastra.

New Delhi: While Ayan Mukerji’s magnum opus ‘Brahmastra: Part One-Shiva’ crossed the Rs 350 crore mark at the box office, the director made a shocking revelation about Ranbir Kapoor in a recent interview. The director talked about the sacrifices and dedication of the actor toward the project. He revealed that Ranbir has not charged any fees for acting in Brahmastra.

The film has crossed Rs 200 crore in India and has received a mixed response from both the audience and the critics. People were critical of the dialogues penned by Hussain Dalal while praising the VFX and the experience created by Ayan Mukerji and the team. According to reports, the film was made on a budget of about Rs 400 crore. Meanwhile, actor Ranbir Kapoor, who played the lead role of Shiva in the first part, did not charge a single penny.

In the interview, Ayan said, “So yes, yeh sach hai ki jo Ranbir ki price as a star, actor it is on a film, (So yes, this is true that what Ranbir’s price as a star, actor it is on film) he did not take anything for the making of Brahmastra (sic).” He added that the film was made with a lot of personal sacrifices and could not have been possible without Ranbir.

‘Brahmastra: Part One-Shiva’ revolves around Shiva and his journey in search of love and self-discovery. During his journey, he has to face many evil forces who are ready to go to any extent for Brahmastra. The film stars Alia Bhatt, Mouni Roy and Amitabh Bachchan along with Ranbir in the lead, while there are cameos by Nagarjuna Akkineni, Shah Rukh Khan and Dimple Kapadia. The film was released in cinemas on September 9.
