Darlings Twitter review: Audience questions balance between crime and comedy in Alia Bhatt starrer

However, some are sending out mixed reviews on the film and questioning the balance between crime and comedy.

New Delhi: Alia Bhatt and Shefali Shah-starrer Darlings premiered on Netflix today. The movie also stars Vijay Verma and Roshan Mathew in pivotal roles. The dark comedy is a perfect blending of an incredible story and a powerful cast. The movie also marks Alia Bhatt’s debut as the producer.

Darlings revolve around the problem of domestic violence. Badrunissa (played by Alia Bhatt) falls in love and marries Hamza (played by Vijay Varma) who turns out to be an alcoholic and beats her. Badrunissa’s mother, Shamshunnisa (played by Shefali Shah) stayed under the same roof as them, and witness the daily altercations. The movie depicts how these individuals turn out to be in the end.

Since morning, Twitter has seen #DarlingsOnNetflix and #AliaBhatt trending. The audience is showering several positive reviews. Several have called the movie to be one of the hits of the year 2022. However, some are sending out mixed reviews on the film and questioning the balance between crime and comedy.

One of the users wrote, “Manifest a pertinent message on domestic violence by fusing humor & thrill in the narrative but screenplay gets stretched towards last 40 mins with unconvincing series of events. Absence of Smart writing & powerful climax makes darlings an average watch,” while another one wrote, “AN AVERAGE SATIRE” and further wrote, “Highlights- Strong Lead performances, Some humour, Relatability and Realistic structure, Dialogues, Underlying themes. Score – 65%. Watch it for the performance.”
