Friendship Day 2021: List of Bollywood movies based on friendships

New Delhi: Aren’t friends a second family to us. Just as important as mother and father and siblings and life-partner. Eventually it happens to be a relationship with least expectations and major backing. Quite interestingly, love might not be so blind, and appearance or age or stability could effect it, but friendship is certainly blind that knows no such limitations. And the best part…, friends are not judgmental at all.

On the Friendship Day 2021, here is a list of on-reel friendships in Bollywood films that delivered a terrific experience of friendship bond to the Indian audiences:

1.Sholay – The 1975 Hindi film starring Legendary actors Dharmendra, Amitabh Bachchan, Hema Malini, Amjad Khan and others, ‘Sholay’ is an all time masterpiece with iconic friendship bond of Jai – Veeru ( Amitabh and Dharmendra), who are still cited as instances of excellent friendship.

2.  Dil Chahta Hai – Three close friends are separated after college due to their different approaches towards relationships. Akash goes to Australia, Sameer gets busy wooing a girl and Siddharth devotes himself to art.

3. Kuch Kuch Hota Hai –  The movie had everything right from catchy music, to ‘cool’ hook-steps, to love and most of all friendship. Like any Karan Johar film, this was an out an out family entertainer but it struck a chord with the young lot thanks to Shahrukh Khan and Kajol aka Rahul and Anjali‘s friendship in the film.

4.Rang De Basanti – Rang De Basanti’s success lay in how authentic and relatable its characters and, more importantly, their friendships were. This group of friends wasn’t your generic Bollywood gang of Rockies and Vickies with one “hero” being accompanied by sidekicks and hanger-ons with no identity of their own. Each of them had a distinct identity and a character arc.

5.Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara – Sometimes asking for forgiveness from your friend doesn’t make you small. But it makes the friendship more valuable. The ego stayed inside Hrithik Roshan and Farhan Akhtar’s characters but it had to be broken and the right situation was brought too for the same.

6. Munna Bhai Series –Munna and Circuit friendship in Munna Bhai M.B.B.S. and Lage Raho Munna Bhai will always be cherished. They defend each other and are ready to kill anyone for their sake. There’s also a dream sequence in Lage Raho Munna Bhai, where school students are reading a chapter about Munna and Circuit’s friendship.

7. Golmaal Series – This fun group make sure to tease and torture each other till death. But when they have one common enemy they are thick and strong as ever.

8. 3 Idiots – When friends are around ‘All is well‘. College friends always remain special. You fight with them, you help out each other and you always stand up for each other no matter what. 3 Idiots, the whole movie described the magic of friendship in the most fun and emotional way.
