KBC 12: Disability evangelist Dr. Jitendra Aggarwal wins Rs 25,00,000 at Karamveer special

In the wake of the International Day of Disabled Persons on December 3, Dr.Jitender&Suman Aggarwal appeared in the show to raise awareness about PwDs and highlight Sarthak’s efforts to ensure the growth and development of people with disabilities.

New Delhi: Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC) honored India’s disabled with a special episode of ‘Karamveer’ featuring Dr.Jitender Aggarwal, CEO, Sarthak Educational Trust and Dr.Suman Aggarwal, Strategic Leader – India, Sarthak Educational Trust who has shaped the organisation over the past decade to enable people with disabilities to become economically self – sufficient.

Hosted by Bollywood superstar Mr. Amitabh Bachchan the show was telecast on November 27, 2020. In the ‘Karamveer’ special series, the show is inviting people from different walks of life who have played a crucial role in changing the lives of lakhs of people. Dr.Jitender Aggarwal, a practicing dentist who became a disability rights activist when he gradually lost vision to muscular degeneration of the retina in 2004, says that he was moved by the plight of Divyangs and was determined to establish a foundation which can help make these people empower economically.

The duo won INR 25 Lakh and will be utilizing this amount for the upliftment of the PwDs.

During the show, Dr.Jitender talked about his dream project of Sarthak Global Resource Centre. The Centre is an effort to meet requisite intervention and support system to Persons with Disability (PwDs) and to equip change-makers and accommodate environment and social system as more accessible and inclusive. This will ensure quality and standard services to PwDs across civil societies, complete and comprehensive understanding of disability by all stakeholders, and guided orientation of new entrants in the sector.
