New Delhi: Bollywood actress Alia Bhatt made her grand debut at New York’s Met Gala 2023 event but little did she imagine that an unpleasant surprise was in the waiting. While the leading actress walked on the red carpet in flowery gown, someone from overexcited foreign media addressed her as Aishwarya, leaving her taken aback.
A video of the paparazzi screaming “Aishwarya this way” at the Met Gala event circulated on social media today. Though, the actress was surprised & shocked, she kept her composure and continued to give poses for the camera.
The leading lady of Bollywood dazzled the audience with her sparkling & gleaming looks in a white ballerina gown, featuring over 1,000 pearls.
In the video, Alia can be seen standing on the stairs at the red carpet & posing for the cameras. She made her Met Gala appearance with dress designer Prabal Gurung. While the actress posed for paparrazis, some kept calling her Aishwarya. Alia chose not to react, just smiled & kept her poise for the cameras.

However, this is not the first time when an Indian celebrity has become a case of mistaken identity at an international event.
During the Oscar Awards ceremony this year, Deepika Paduone was also mistaken as Camila Alves by AFP & Vogue magazine.
Prior to this, another video of Alia Bhatt went viral on social media in which a fan could be heard chanting, “I love you” went viral. Alia replies to fan, “Thank you. I love you too.”
