New Delhi: Radio Mirchi RJ Sayema was confronted with some facts on the Islamic verses about disbelievers, polytheists and women, on Thursday.
It began when poet/lyricist Manoj Muntashir shared a video clip on twitter about of upcoming Youtube video, where he will be exposing the Mughal Regime and its false glorification. In the video, the poet can be asking how invaders and looters who killed/massacred Indians, can be celebrated as heroes. He also termed the Mughals as “glorified dacoits” and asked people to acknowledge India’s own heritage and stop cheering for dacoits and mass murderers.

Triggered by the video, the controversial Radio Jockey RJ Sayema called Manoj Muntashit a ‘bigot’ in one of her tweet. Sayema wrote in her tweet, “Bigotry had nothing to do with education. In fact if you are educated and a bigot, it’s a deadly cocktail,”.

While many Netizens schooled her of that Muntashir had every right to express his opinions, others suggested that instead of labelling and name calling, the RJ should counter him on facts.
Scientist and Professor Anand Ranganathan in response to Sayema’s tweet, put out verses from Islamic texts that demand violence on non-believers of Islam and polytheists. Prof. Ranganathan, put out three verses in Quran to help Sayema realise why Mughal regime has been so violent and cruel against Indian natives.
Those who disbelieve in our verses we’ll drive them into a fire. 4:56
Polytheists are the worst of creatures. 98:6
Men are in charge of women by right of what I have granted one over the other. 4:34

Sayema responded to Prof. Ranganathan in her tweet, thanking him for reinforcing what she had written. Prof. Ranganathan confronted again, asking her if she meant that reading the verses from Quran prompts bigotry. “Are you condemning the words of Allah,” he further asked.
Thank you for reinforcing what I have written!

Reinforcing?! Gosh. Are you saying you have read the holy book and are a bigot? Are you condemning the words of Allah? That’s blasphemy.
Delete your tweet or there’d be a fatwa against you and I don’t want the ‘sar tun se juda’ brigade to hound you. WDTT https://t.co/b79xgvIm4r

Later Sayema declined the verses quoted by prof. Anand altogether, saying that it was the ‘Whatsapp University” version of the Quran.
? Disprove them, from whichever University you are comfortable with. Open challenge to you, to quote 4:56, 98:6, 4:34.
Don’t be scared, @_sayema. No one will call you a bigot – addressing folks by their middle name is not the done thing anymore. WDTT https://t.co/8Hv3ctO5nv

When asked to put out the correct version of the verses, the RJ was nowhere to be found on the twitter. As Sayema could not present a factual disapproval to Prof Ranganathan’s facts, the scientist has now asked Twitteratis who listens to her show to ask her to quote verse 4:34 in her show next time.
Last word on this, as poor @_sayema got scared and ran away. A request to all those who (still) listen to her show – next time she holds a listener call-in, please ask her to quote the verse 4:34. Insist on it. Just one verse would do. Ask her how it begins, and how it ends. WDTT
