Sushant Singh Rajput Death Case Updates: Late actor’s friend Siddharth Pithani, cook being questioned by CBI

On August 19, while holding that the FIR registered in Patna over the death of Bollywood actor was legitimate, the Supreme Court directed the CBI to investigate the case.

New Delhi: Late Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s friend Siddharth Pithani and cook Neeraj on Sunday arrived at the DRDO guest house, where the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) team investigating the actor’s death case, is staying.

On Friday, the CBI had collected case diary of the ADR, Sushant’s phone and laptop, and other important documents from the Mumbai Police.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) team had arrived in Mumbai on Thursday evening, began its probe into the death of Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput on Friday.

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has exempted the CBI team from home quarantine. Earlier this month, the BMC had quarantined Bihar IPS officer Vinay Tiwari upon his arrival in Mumbai in connection with the investigation in the actor’s death case. “They are on official duty and sought an exemption from quarantine norms. They have been given exemption from the home quarantine rule,” said a BMC official.

Supreme Court directed the CBI to investigate the case

On August 19, while holding that the FIR registered in Patna over the death of Bollywood actor was legitimate, the Supreme Court directed the CBI to investigate the case.

The single-judge bench of Justice Hrishikesh Roy also said the Bihar Government was competent to recommend transferring the case to the CBI.

The apex court also asked the Mumbai Police to hand over all the evidence collected so far in the case to the CBI. The State of Maharashtra refused the option to challenge the order, Justice Roy said.

The CBI has registered an FIR against Rhea Chakraborty and others in connection with the actor’s death after the Centre accepted Bihar Government’s recommendation to transfer the probe in the matter from Patna.

An FIR was registered in Patna on a complaint filed by KK Singh, Rajput’s father, under sections related to abetment to suicide. Rajput was found dead at his Mumbai residence on June 14.
