These sports biopics are a must watch on your OTT checklist; TRAILERS inside

Several movies inspired by the lives of players have been made while some are yet to be released.

New Delhi: Nothing in the world can be as universal as sports. Sports can be considered as the only means which unites people across the world. The love and gratitude the players have against each other and for the teams or the country they play under show their unity can be brought under one umbrella despite diversity.

The Bollywood industry has taken up this opportunity to showcase unity through sports via movies. Several movies inspired by the lives of players have been made while some are yet to be released. With the help of OTT platforms, the audience gets the sheer experience of watching those inspiring movies sitting at home.

Let’s take a look at some of the movies inspired by sports that are already streaming or will be streaming soon:

1. MS Dhoni: The Untold Story – Disney+Hotstar

The movie made a theatrical release in 2016 and was based on the journey of Mahendra Singh Dhoni from working at Indian Railways to chasing his dream and becoming the captain of the national cricket team. The character of Dhoni was played by the late Sushant Singh Rajput. The movie also showed glimpses of his love life. The movie starred Kiara Advani, Disha Patnani, Anupam Kher in pivotal roles.

2. Sachin: A billion dreams – SonyLiv

The documentary narrates the story of the little master aka Sachin Tendulkar. Considered as the God of Cricket, the documentary portrays the journey of Sachin becoming one of the most famous names in the world of cricket. The documentary was made with the help of archival footage, re-enactments, and clips of his family, friends, and colleagues.

3. Golondaaj – Amazon Prime, Disney+Hotstar

A Bengali sports drama that dates back to the British Rule era. The biopic tells the tale of Nagendra Prasad Sarbadhikari, who hails from a reformist family, dreams of defeating the British in a football game during the times when Indians were whipped even for touching the ball or observing the game. Dev played the lead role in the movie.

4. Chakda Xpress – Netflix

The biopic of one of the greatest women fast bowlers of all time, Jhulan Goswami will see Anushka Sharma playing her role in Chakda Xpress. The movie will narrate the inspiring journey of how she gradually experienced success while battling with misogynistic politics to pursue her dream of playing for India.

5. Kaun Praveen Tambe – Disney+Hotstar

Directed by Neeraj Pandey, Kaun Praveen Tamble will be streaming on the OTT from April 1. The movie will see the journey of the oldest IPL cricket Pravin Tambe. Shreyas Talpade will be essaying the titular role.
