New Delhi: Television actor Akshat Utkarsh, a native of Bihar, was found dead at his Andheri apartment in Mumbai on Sunday night.
According to police, the actor allegedly died by suicide as he was depressed due to lack of work in the entertainment industry. A case has been lodged and his body has been handed over to family after postmortem, reports said citing Mumbai Police.
Actor’s family, however, have dismissed the depression angle, claiming that the budding actor was murdered. Family members have leveled charges of negligence on police.
According to a report by Hindustan Times, police officials have said that the actor was staying with one of his female friends when the incident happened. According to his roommate’s statement, Akshat was behaving normally on Sunday and said that they even had dinner together and then went to sleep.
The report further quotes a police official saying that when actor’s friend she woke up to go to the washroom at around 11:30 pm, she found him dead and called the police immediately.
The official further said that a team of cops rushed the actor to a private hospital where he was declared dead before arrival. After this, the body was shifted to Cooper Hospital for the autopsy.
“Preliminary inquiry and autopsy report do not indicate any foul play. The incident took place on Sunday night somewhere between 10pm and 11:30pm,” a senior police official said.
