New Delhi: Rahul Gandhi and senior Congress leaders Ghulam Nabi Azad & Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury visited Rashtrapati Bhavan last week and handed over purported list of 2 crore signatories to President Ram Nath Kovind, claiming that they have signed the petition against Centre’s ‘atrocious’ farm laws.

However, soon after questions were raised over the documents submitted by Rahul Gandhi. The documents reportedly didn’t have any contact numbers or address of farmers, raising questions over the authenticity and veracity of documents against farm laws.

Now, questions are being raised over whether any such signature campaign took place or not. Going by replies of many Congress leaders, it suggests the list may be ‘bogus’.

Bihar Cong leaders expose ‘bogus’ signature drive

Bihar Pradesh Congress Committee chief Dr Madan Mohan Jha told media that the signature campaign was undertaken before Bihar Assembly elections but got slowed down during polls. When probed further, he told mediapersons to enquire from the PCC spokesperson.

When same question was posed to Bihar Congress legislature party leader Ajit Sharma, he denied about any such move. However, he added that signature campaign would be conducted if need arises.

Tom-toming Priyanka’s mass connect but Cong leaders clueless

With Priyanka Gandhi commanding the party affairs in Uttar Pradesh, it was claimed that out of 2 crore signatures, about 50 lakh farmers signed the documents and demanded repeal of recently passed farm laws.

Such massive participation of farmers from Uttar Pradesh alone is bound to reflect Priyanka Gandhi’s towering leadership and her strong connect with masses but here again, the situation was no different from Bihar.

A couple of senior leaders claimed that Youth Congress carried out this drive but the latter denied any such campaign.
