2010 batch IPS officer arrested on graft charges in Rajasthan, linked to extortion racket

New Delhi: A 2010 batch IPS (Indian Police Service) officer Maish Agrawal was arrested on Tuesday by the Rajasthan Anti-corruption Bureau (ACB) over corruption charges.

The arrest pertains to his tenure as Superintendent of police in Dausa, ACB Director General (DG) B L Soni said on Tuesday.

IPS officer Manish Agarwal’s name cropped up after a petrol pump owner Neeraj Meena, was arrested from Dausa for allegedly demanding Rs 38 lakh as a bribe from highway construction firm on the officer’s behalf.

A fixed amount of 4 lakh per month as “extortion money” for 7 months and Rs 10 lakh for covering up an FIR were demanded by middleman on behalf of Agarwal.

Agarwal’s house was raided after his arrest and he is currently being interrogated by a team of officers, the top official said.

Agarwal is currently posted as the commandant of the State Disaster Response Force, Jaipur.
