290 oxygen plants in UP soon, work going on war-footing; 10 plants aided by Bill & Melinda Gates foundation

The plants to be set up include 27 by the State Government, 79 by the Sugar Mills and Excise Department, 10 by Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, six from MP and 37 from MLA Funds, 25 from State Disaster Relief Fund (SDRF) and two from Path.

New Delhi: As part of its mission to achieve self-sufficiency in the production of medical oxygen in Uttar Pradesh, the State Government led by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is currently working on war footing to establish 258 oxygen plants in the state.

The Government has also sent proposals for setting up 167 new plants in the state to the Central Government. The Government plants to have altogether 485 oxygen plants in the state in future, which will end the UP’s dependence on oxygen supply from other states.

It is for the first time in the history of Uttar Pradesh that oxygen plants are being established on such a large scale in the state, thanks to Yogi Adityanath’s initiative and consistent efforts. CM Yogi has also ordered setting up of oxygen plants in private medical colleges. Oxygen plants will be set up in all those private medical colleges that have been taken over by the government, and which do not have a plant, with the funds allocated for those colleges.

Oxygen plant

Yogi Government’s initiatives of oxygen audit and software based tracking are leading to better outcomes in terms of ensuring adequate supply of oxygen across the state. At present, all the districts have adequate backup of oxygen in UP. Medical colleges also have oxygen backup for two and a half days. A total of 753 MT of oxygen has been supplied in the state in the last 24 hours. Oxygen is also being given to people in home isolation.

33 oxygen plants set up, work underway on 258 plants

There are 25 oxygen plants currently operating in the state of UP. Besides, a total of 188 new oxygen plants are to be set up from the PM Care Fund, of which five have been established while work is underway on 16 others. Apart from this, a proposal has been sent to the Central Government for 167 new plants.

The plants to be set up include 27 by the State Government, 79 by the Sugar Mills and Excise Department, 10 by Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, six from MP and 37 from MLA Funds, 25 from State Disaster Relief Fund (SDRF) and two from Path. Apart from this, 59 plants are being set up from CSR Fund, of which three have already been installed. It is worth mentioning here that two plants to be set up with the help of MP Fund, 20 from the MLA Fund and five oxygen plants from the SDRF are likely to be approved soon.

Oxygen plants also to be set up in 10 hospitals

The oxygen plants are being set up in 10 hospitals of the state also. These included Avantibai Women’s Hospital in Lucknow; RSM Hospital-Saadhamau; 300-bedded Covid Hospital at Gautam Budh Nagar; Manyavar Kanshiram Trauma Center at Kanpur; DCH Gauriganj of Amethi, District Hospital of Bijnor, Deoria and Etawah; Combined Hospital of Mathura; as well as district hospitals at Vrindavan and Pilibhit.
