3 month gap between vaccine doses if tested Covid +ve: Health Ministry

Health Ministry today said that If a person has been infected after first dose, second dose to be deferred by 3 months after clinical recovery from COVID19.

New Delhi: The Health Ministry on Wednesday approved yet another recommendation of the Covid-19 working group regarding vaccination drive.

“New Recommendations of National Expert Group on Vaccine Administration for COVID19 (NEGVAC) have been accepted & communicated to States/UTs. As per new recommendations, COVID19 vaccination to be deferred by 3 months after recovery from illness,” Union Health Ministry said.

Health Ministry further said that If a person has been infected after first dose, second dose to be deferred by 3 months after clinical recovery from COVID19.

“Persons with any other serious illness requiring hospitalization or ICU care to also wait for 4-8 weeks before getting the vaccine,” it said.

Recommendations approved by Govt

— As per new recommendations, COVID19 vaccination to be deferred by 3 months after recovery from illness.

— If infected after first dose, second dose to be deferred by 3 months after clinical recovery from COVID19.

— Persons with any other serious illness requiring hospitalization or ICU care to also wait for 4-8 weeks before getting the vaccine.

— An individual can donate blood after 14 days of either receiving vaccine or testing RT-PCR negative if suffering from COVID.

— Vaccination recommended for lactating women. No need for screening of vaccine recipients by Rapid Antigen Test prior to vaccination.
