A suspect with 2 different IDs caught near Parliament, being grilled by Delhi cops

The man in question was carrying two ID cards with two different names. His Aadhar card and driving licence have different names. A letter has also been recovered from him, details of which are not yet known.

New Delhi: In a major security concern, a suspicious person was detained from near the Parliament Complex by the Central Industrial Security Forces (CISF) on Wednesday.

The suspected person was roaming around Vijay Chowk, when he was apprehended. The security personnel, when questioned him about his whereabouts, he panicked and started giving illogical answers and doing flip-flops.

The man in question was carrying two ID cards with two different names. His Aadhar card and driving licence have different names. A letter has also been recovered from him, details of which are not yet known.

He was taken into custody and taken to Parliament Street police station for further questioning.

A paper with certain ‘codewords’ written on it, has also been recovered him. This has further heightened the suspicion, over whether he is part of some bigger plot.

After repeated questioning by the CISF personnel, the person first said he came to Delhi in 2016 for a sightseeing trip. Then, he said he came to Delhi during Lockdown. When questioned about address, he named 3-4 locations including Jamia, Nizamudding and Jama Masjid.

Days before, Delhi cops ISIS operative

On last Saturday, the Special Cell of Delhi Police arrested Islamic State (ISIS) operative after a gunfight last night.

The arrested accused was identified as Abdul Yusuf Khan and he hails from Uttar Pradesh. 2 IEDs weighing about 15 KG and a pistol were recovered from him, suggesting the scale of operation he was planning to execute. The terrorist was intercepted by cops near Dhaula Kuan while he on his bike.

“The ISIS operative was arrested along with IEDs that were in his possession,” Pramod Singh Kushwaha, Delhi Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Delhi Police Special Cell, said.

The police claimed that Khan was a lone wolf operative who had on his own planned an attack in the national capital.

“There was an exchange of fire after which he was arrested. He was a lone wolf who had planned an attack in the national capital. We have recovered a pistol and two IEDs from him,” Pramod Kushwaha, deputy commissioner of police (special cell), said.
