New Delhi: Adesh Kumar Gupta has been appointed as the new president of Delhi Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) replacing Actor-politician Manoj Tiwari. Adesh Gupta is former North Delhi Municipal Corporation mayor and a sitting council from West Patel Nagar.
Manoj Tiwari, who was appointed Delhi BJP president in 2016, was said to be on borrowed time since the party’s disastrous performance in the Delhi assembly election.

On Monday, Tiwari was detained along with other party workers for alleged violation of COVID-19 lockdown norms after they gathered at Rajghat to protest against Arvind Kejriwal government’s failure to contain the spread of coronavirus.
