After visit to 3 biotech firms, PM Modi virtually interacts with 3 teams developing Covid-19 vaccine

New Delhi: After visiting 3 Covid-19 vaccine centres, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday interacted with 3 teams developing and manufacturing vaccine for the Coronavirus pandemic.

The three teams which held virtual interaction with PM Modi include Gennova Biopharmaceuticals Ltd Pune, Biological E Ltd Hyderabad and Dr. Reddys Laboratories Ltd Hyderabad.

Earlier on Saturday, PM Modi undertook a three-city tour to visit Zydus Cadila facility in Ahmedabad, Bharat Biotech laboratory in Hyderabad and Serum Institute in Pune to get first-hand account of the vaccine development.

PM Modi appreciated the efforts and endeavour of scientists in these companies for preparing a vaccine solution to tackle COVID-19.

PM Modi also asked the companies to come out with their suggestions and ideas regarding the regulatory processes and related matters. He also suggested that they should take extra efforts to inform the general public in simple language about the vaccine and related matters such as its efficacy etc. Matters relating to logistics, transport, cold chain etc in respect of delivering the vaccines were also discussed.

All the vaccine candidates discussed are at different stages of trials and detailed data and results are expected early next year onwards.

In recent virtual conference with Chief Ministers of all states and Union Territories, PM Modi reviewed their preparedness in Covid-19 response and management.

The modalities of Covid-19 vaccine delivery, distribution and administration were also discussed during the meeting.

Just like saving each and every life has been a priority, the next level of preparation should be smooth and systematic Vaccine drive, PM Modi told the chief ministers.

As for the coronavirus vaccine development and distribution plans, PM Modi said, “Vaccine distribution strategy will be chalked out in collective coordination with states. States must also start working cold storage facilities.”
