New Delhi: In a fresh attempt to reach out to the Sikh community amid ongoing farmers agitation on Delhi border, the Modi government is listing the ‘pro-Sikh steps’ in a soon to be released booklet.

The booklet details the steps taken by Modi government which apparently establishes its ‘special relationship’ with the community. The move is seen as a move to placate the agitating farmers and assuage their concerns.

It may be noted that mostly Sikh farmers from Punjab and those from Haryana are at the forefront of protests at Delhi border.

The booklet named ‘PM Modi and government’s relationship with Sikhs’ is a revised edition of the previous booklet and has been prepared by Ministry of Information & Broadcasting.

“PM Modi has paid great respect to the Sikh Gurus while he has always lauded the bravery, courage and spirit of enterprise of the Sikhs. With such a Prime Minister at the helm, no wonder that the government also has taken many institutional measures for the welfare of the Sikhs,” a document of I&B Ministry said.

“Whether it is about celebration of holy occasions such as Sri Guru Nanak Dev ji’s 550th birth anniversary or Sri Guru Gobind Singh ji’s 350th birth anniversary, whether it is about justice for victims of 1984 riots or about construction of Sri Kartarpur Sahib Corridor, Prime Minister Modi has taken personal interest and led the way in working for the Sikh community,” it said.

First edition of the booklet released last year

The first edition of booklet had 13 chapters while the revised version has 19 chapters alongwith more pictures of PM Modi with Sikh community.

The first edition of ‘PM Modi and his government’s special relationship with Sikhs’ was released by Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, in presence of Prakash Javadekar.
