‘Baba’s Bulldozer’ creates buzz even at GBC3

When Yogi won the assembly elections for the second time, the bulldozer emerged as the mascot of a strong government.

New Delhi: When Yogi won the assembly elections for the second time, the bulldozer emerged as the mascot of a strong government. The same giant roaring machine bulldozer became a topic of discussion among guests during the Ground Breaking Ceremony 3.0 in Lucknow on Friday.

People could not take their eyes off the bulldozer put on display by the ‘CAT’ company of Chennai.

It may be recalled that the bulldozer became a divisive symbol this year during elections in Uttar Pradesh, India’s most-populous state. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath earned this new sobriquet of “bulldozer baba” during the current elections due to his frequent reference of the heavy machine which he deployed to raze the ill-gotten property of criminals and mafias in the state.

Even though the elections are over, the bulldozer is still in the news. Hemant, sales head of CAT in Lucknow informed that the company’s manufacturing unit is in Chennai. “The way the bulldozer has got publicity in the elections, now its demand is increasing in the market as well,” he said.

He said that there was no particular reason for the bulldozer to showcase here, but to attract the attention of the industrialists coming from the investment point of view. The company says that the bulldozer has become the identity of UP.

Yogi Adityanath invoked bulldozer in his several election speeches, saying these heavy machines are being used to build expressways in Uttar Pradesh and to destroy illegal properties of criminals and mafia. In some rallies, bulldozers were seen parked at the venue of Adityanath public meetings in different places.
