Battered by floods, Gujarat farmers have a ray of hope; Rupani govt to assist those who lost their crops

Gujarat govt has decided that farmers who have lost their crops due to heavy rains in the state will be provided assistance on the basis of State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF).

New Delhi: A farmer centric decision has been made in the State Cabinet Meeting chaired by Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani and Deputy Chief Minster Nitin Patel. As per the decision made today, farmers who have lost their crops due to heavy rains in the state will be provided assistance on the basis of State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF).

Giving the role of this decision Minister of Agriculture Mr. R. C. Faldu said that, CM has also given instruction to concerned departments to complete the crop damage survey work in next 15 days.

The decision to provide assistance to farmers due to the loss of kharif crop has been received positively.

Assistance will be paid to the farmers who have lost more than 33% crops. For which orders have been given to conduct survey. Survey work have carried out in the fields where rain water has receded. Such survey work will be carried out after the water recedes in the fields which are still flooded.

Mr. Faldu said that, during the times of natural calamities state government has always stood with the farmers and has provided financial assistance packages.

Mr. Faldu said that,there will be adequately water for agriculture in the coming rabi and summer crop seasons as the state has received an average of more than 125 per cent rainfall this season.
