New Delhi: The soaring heatwave across the globe and frightening prophecies by climate experts has been a matter of concern for sometime now. The erratic change in weather has impacted not just the ‘third world countries’ but developed nations too remain a victim of ‘vagaries of weather’.
China is currently under a spell of torrential rains and coupled with storm & typhoons, its sprwaling capital is facing its worst flooding in a decade.
Heavy rains lashed Beijing & its surrounding regions for third day in a row on Monday, leading to deluge & waterlogging in many areas. At least 11 people have died and 13 are reported missing after torrential rains in Beijing.
Beijing was hit by Typhoon Doksuri last week, which resulted in flooding of the capital. Reports suggest that the capital is now bracing for another Typhoon named Khanun. This would be the third storm to hit the Chinese city in last few weeks.
After heavy rain fell, the new 🇨🇳 #Beijing Daxing International Airport (PKX) experienced major flooding, resulting in some flights being canceled. The Airport started its operation on September 25, 2019.

According to local media reports, the flooding is not just limited to Beijing. Heavy rains & flooding are likely to worsen in other adjoining provinces namely Tianjin and Hebei.
The rainfall was likely to get weakened by today but the onset of third typhoon along the Chinese coast has raised fresh worries.
According to Chinese Meteorological Bureau, Beijing witnessed a rain spell of 170.9mm in last 3 days, which is equivalent to what the city gets in entire July.

Heavy rains, coupled with typhoon has sent the state machinery in disarray and civic authorities are finding it tough to handle the situation. The current situation is a reminder of similar flood havoc of July 2012, which had wreaked havoc in the city. More than 79 lives were lost in 2012 flooding of the city.
China has been witnessing extreme heat & downpour in recent weeks, much like its Western counterparts.
