Bengal post-poll violence: An account of brutalities after TMC victory, mostly in assemblies it won (VIDEOS)

TMC’s return to power in Bengal triggered mindless violence on streets. TMC goons burnt BJP offices, inflicted atrocity on workers, even molested women… List of brutality by TMC men goes on.

New Delhi: After the bitterly contested elections in West Bengal, violence broke out in many parts of the state. The violence that ensued post polls was mainly aimed at key political rival – BJP. At some places, BJP office was burnt down while at few places, BJP workers were brutalized allegedly by TMC goons.

The scale of post-poll violence was so intense that Centre had to step in. Mamata maintained silence while the TMC ruffians went on rampage, inflicting atrocities on BJP workers. Eventually, Centre demanded answers from Bengal administration over mindless violence while Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar also nudged ‘Didi’ to rein in TMC hooligans.

Below are many Video footages (mostly from 1st week of May), capturing TMC goons going on rampage:

Maximum violence in assemblies, where TMC won

Violence mainly took place in those assemblies where TMC candidates won the polls. Sources privy to information  informed that sexual assaults and gangrapes also took place at many locations. Idols of Hindu deities were also reportedly damaged in the post-poll violence. And, those who indulged in such mindless violence were none other than TMC workers and supporters, who allegedly did this at the behest of their local leaders.

In many such places, some MLAs are also accused to have instigated and fanned the violence.

Bloodshed in 16 districts, 9 have Muslim population above 25%

According to reports, bloody clashes took place in at least 33 assembly seats falling in 23 districts. Out of these 23 districts, 16 were hardly hit by violence and witnessed bloody clashes.

All these 16 districts have considerable amount of Muslim population. In 9 of these 16 districts, Muslims account for about 25% population.

Constituencies won by BJP candidates were also not spared. Nandigram, which witnessed high-voltage clash and Mamata losing out to her former aide and BJP’s Suvendu Adhikari, saw widespread violence.

Natabari, another constituency won by BJP saw TMC goons running amok the streets.

Mamata pandering to ‘favourite’ vote bank?

Notably, the post poll figures revealed that Muslim population formed the core vote base of Mamata’s return of power. As high as 75% reportedly voted for TMC in the recently concluded Assembly polls.

Mamata - Nadda

Unfortunately, no serious action has been taken by Mamata government against rioters and mobsters despite the Centre seeking report from state govt and also Governor Dhankhad, alarmed at the post-poll violence, is visiting those affected by mindless violence to provide them succor.

‘14 BJP workers killed, 1 lakh people fled to safer place’

BJP President JP Nadda who visited West Bengal on May 5, claimed that at least 14 BJP workers were killed and nearly 1 lakh people fled their homes in post-poll violence in West Bengal.

Condemning the “brutal killings”, Nadda claimed that BJP workers were killed while women were molested and raped in various parts of the state.

BJP president visited the residences of some party workers who allegedly faced atrocities at the hands of TMC goons.
Launching diatribe against Mamata dispensation, he called it “a state-sponsored programme.”
