BJP tears into Sonia Gandhi over her ‘communal prejudice’ remark in times of Covid-19

BJP lashed out at the Congress chief Sonia Gandhi after the latter alleged that BJP is spreading the virus of communal hatred, when it should be battling Covid-19.

New Delhi: Hours after Sonia Gandhi, at the Congress Working Committee (CWC), accused the BJP of ‘spreading the virus of communal hatred’ at a time when it should be fighting the Coronavirus pandemic, the BJP lashed out at the Congress chief and said that she should not do ‘cheap politics’.

Union Minister Prakash Javadekar made a scathing attack on Sonia Gandhi as well as Congress for indulging in negative politics, at a time when it should be seen working hand-in-hand with the government to mitigate the Covid-19 crisis.

Leveling direct and sharp allegations, Javadekar said that Congress is trying to push communal angle in the Corona battle. He accused the grand old party of not standing for the nation and rather indulge in cursing those working for a cause.

He strongly condemned the statement by Sonia Gandhi and said that on one side, BJP is fighting while Congress is trying to wedge a divide between communities.

What Sonia said at CWC

In her opening remarks at a Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting, Sonia Gandhi said the BJP was doing “grave damage” to social harmony when everyone should be fighting coronavirus unitedly.

“Let me also share with you something that should worry each and every one of us as Indians. When we should be tackling the coronavirus unitedly, the BJP continues to spread the virus of communal prejudice and hatred,” said the Congress chief.
