BJP worker’s body found hanging from tree in West Bengal’s Nadia district

Body of a BJP worker was found hanging from a tree in Gayeshpur of Nadia district in West Bengal. While the victim’s family claimed that he was murdered, the BJP said that he was killed by political goons and then hanged.

New Delhi: In yet another incident, the body of a BJP worker was found hanging from a tree in West Bengal’s Nadia district on Sunday. Bijoy Shil (34) was actively involved as a BJP party worker in the area. His residence is in Ward No. 4 of Gayeshpur Municipality in the district.

On Sunday morning, some locals saw Shil’s body hanging in a mango orchard near the cremation area. The police recovered Shil’s body and sent it for autopsy after locals informed them, according to reports.

The BJP blamed “political goons” for the incident, saying that the party will ensure “justice for all the murdered workers”. No Police complaint has been filed so far. This incident comes five days before Union Home Minister Amit Shah is scheduled to visit West Bengal for two days to address party workers as part of organizational meetings. Shah is expected to address party workers in Burdwan and Midnapur zones on 5th November and the following day, is scheduled to visit Kolkata and Nabadeep zones.

“Bijoy Shil, only aged 34 and an active BJP worker murdered and found hanging in Nadia. Same pattern in every murder by the goons. Use of terror to stop the working of BJP? We won’t stop and BJP will ensure justice for all the murdered workers! These political ‘Murders’ must stop,” The BJP Bengal said in a tweet.

BJP national secretary Arvind Menon alleged Trinamool Congress’ hand behind the BJP worker’s alleged murder.

This is a third such incident in a span of one month.

West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar, who has been at odds with the Mamata Banerjee-led government since assuming charge had on Saturday said that he was worried about the governance situation in the state which is getting away from the rule of law and the Constitution.
