Blow to Mamata ahead of Bengal polls; TMC minister quits, another MLA likely to join BJP

Suvendu Adhikari has been distancing himself from TMC for several months now. Posters of ‘Amra Dadar Anugami’ have been put up by his supporters at several places.

New Delhi: In a big blow to Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress in Bengal, senior party leader Suvendu Adhikari has submitted his resignation as state transport minister.

Adhikari has been distancing himself from TMC for several months now. Posters of ‘Amra Dadar Anugami’ have been put up by his supporters at several places.

Speculations are also doing the rounds that he will quit the TMC and join saffron party soon.

Earlier today, disgruntled TMC MLA Mihir Goswami had voiced his concerns and disappointment with the party. He also left for the national capital with BJP MP Nisiht Pramanik, fuelling speculations over his exit from the party.

Reports are rife that Goswami will join the saffron party today evening.

TMC spokespersons have remained tight-lipped over the development.
