Bollywood sues 2 top TV news channels for calling them ‘druggies’, scum

Bollywood sues 2 top TV news channels: The film producers have sought to restrain the two channels from from making or publishing allegedly “irresponsible, derogatory and defamatory remarks” against film industry and conducting media trials against its members on various issues.

New Delhi: Leading Bollywood producers have approached Delhi High Court against ‘irresponsible and defamatory’ reporting by certain news channels in the aftermath of Sushant Singh Rajput death and also investigation by security agencies.

Some of the film industry’s biggest names including Aamir Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar, Ajay Devgn, Karan Johar, Aditya Chopra and Farhan Akhtar, have come together to sue 2 news channels – Republic TV and Times Now and are seeking unprecedented legal action against them, a leading portal reported.

The film producers have sought to restrain the two channels from from making or publishing allegedly “irresponsible, derogatory and defamatory remarks” against film industry and conducting media trials against its members on various issues.

The lawsuit by 4 Bollywood industry associations and 34 leading producers have also sought to restrain them from interfering with the right to privacy of persons associated with the industry.

The suit filed through DSK Legal firm said, “This comes in the wake of these channels using highly derogatory words and expressions for Bollywood such as ‘dirt’, ‘filth’, ‘scum’, ‘druggies’ and expressions such as “it is Bollywood where the dirt needs to be cleaned”, “all the perfumes of Arabia cannot take away the stench and the stink of this filth and scum of the underbelly of Bollywood”, “This is the dirtiest industry in the country”, and “cocaine and LSD drenched Bollywood”.
