New Delhi: Gangster-turned-politician Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf faced the wrath of lawyer community while the duo appeared in the MP MLA court in Prayagraj, in connection with Umesh Pal murder case.

The mafia has already been convicted in the kidnapping case & handed over life imprisonment. This was mafia’s second appearance in the MP MLA court in about a fortnight.

While Atiq & Ashraf were being taken to court for appearance in the Umesh Pal murder case, an object was hurled at the duo.

News agency ANI tweeted the video and said a bottle was hurled while they were taken to court amidst tight security.
The legal fraternity is already up in arms against the dreaded criminal and is demanding sternest punishment for the gangster.

Scores of Lawyers also held protest outside the CJM court in Prayagraj today, seeking implementation of Advocates Protection Act.

Days ago, a group of lawyers made their abhorrence against the criminal clear when they held demonstration outside court & demanded capital punishment for the mafia.

A lawyer brought a garland of shoes and said that only when the criminal wears this & gets punished for heinous act, the legal community would be convinced.

Notably, Umesh Pal was also a practicing lawyer and was in legal clothing when he was killed in broad daylight. Pal was attacked by assailants, which included Atiq’s son Asad & his henchmen. They fired bullets at him & flung bombs, resulting in death of Umesh Pal & his 2 security guards.

Atiq Ahmed was a dreaded gangster of the 1990s, whose name was enough to evoke terror in people’s minds. Though, he made a transition to politics and also got elected to UP Assembly & Parliament, his gang operated with impunity, allegedly under the auspices of Samajwadi Party.
