New Delhi: The famed Ajmer Sharif dargah in Rajasthan witnessed violent clashes between two groups inside its premises on Monday, prompting dargah & police officials to step in. The altercation reportedly broke out between the Khadims (custodians of dargah) and those belonging to Barelvi sect, apparently over some disputed slogan-shouting.
A verbal spat broke out after Khadims objected to slogans by people of Barelvi sect and within moments turned into physical fight. A group of Barelvi sect followers had gone to the Dargah to attend the Urs (death anniversary) of Sufi saint Khwaja Moinuddin Chisti. While they raised slogans in favour of community, the Khadims got riled up & protested against it.
As they confronted Barelvi sect followers, this resulted into physical clashes, with people from both sides trading blows.
The incident was captured on camera and shared on social media.

The dargah administration stepped in to control the situation but failed to do so. When the Dargah police in-charge Amar Singh Bhati came to the venue & intervened, the situation could be brought under control.
Reports suggest that Khadims beat up those sloganeering inside the dargah premises, near Jannati Dawaza.
Following the scuffle, those shouting slogans in favour of Barelvi sect escaped from spot. No police case has been registered in the matter yet.
