New Delhi: In a fresh attempt to stitch together a united Opposition alliance to take on the Bharatiya Janata party (BJP)-led government in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls, Bihar Chief Minister & Deputy CM met Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge & Rahul Gandhi in the national capital on Wednesday.

At the marathon meet of Opposition parties attended by bigwigs of these political parties, the leaders deliberated on ways & means to form a united front ahead of 2024 polls and also on how to galvanize support from other parties as well as public.

The meeting was attended by Bihar CM Nitish Kumar, Deputy CM Tejashwi Yadav, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge & Janata Dal (U) President Rajiv Ranjan Singh along with RJD MP Manoj Jha & grand old party leader Salman Khurshid.

Addressing reporters after marathon meet, Rahul Gandhi said, “This is a historic step to unite the opposition. We will develop the vision of the opposition parties and move forward; we will all stand together for the country.”

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar asserted that they will try to unite as many political parties as they can and move forward together.

According to reports, the mahagathbandan parties agreed on the need to reach out to more parties and forge multiple coalitions to show the mirror to BJP.

Congress will reportedly reach out to allies like NCP & DMK while Nitish will woo those parties which breath fire against the ruling dispensation but have also maintained a safe distance from the grand old party.

“We will together carry on efforts in this regard,” Nitish said.

In Bihar, these are 3 parties which run a coalition government after Nitish Kumar broke alliance with the BJP midway.
