New Delhi: Aspirations and achievements showcase equal opportunities for all, and Miss India runner-up Manya Singh, the daughter of an auto driver, proved the same. Manya Singh was crowned as the runner-up of the VLCC Femina Miss India 2020 beauty pageant. Since then she is hogging all the limelight with her inspirational story behind the journey of winning the title.

Manya who hails from Uttar Pradesh is now all set to meet the Chief Minister of the state Yogi Adityanath. It will be going to be a proud moment for her as she brought Uttar Pradesh’s name under the spotlight.

Struggle story of Manya Singh

After facing extreme poverty throughout her childhood, at the young age of 14, Singh boarded a train from her village in Uttar Pradesh and left for Mumbai to follow her dreams. Singh posted on her Instagram that she comes from a patriarchal family where “I was told that women are lesser than men.”

Her parents have struggled to make ends meet but have always supported her dreams. Her family resides in the Kandivali area of Mumbai. Manya’s father Omprakash Singh is an auto driver and her mother Manorama Singh is a hair designer in a beauty parlour in Bandra Area.

“I worked in restaurants. I worked in a call centre. I had to do my 9 hours at night, attend my lectures in the early morning. And after that, I had to go for auditions without food and water,” said Manya.

Her father proudly stated that Manya has made a name for herself all over the country after winning the runner-up title. “Relatives who always tried to avoid me and my family due to our poverty are now proudly telling everyone that they are our relatives and are giving interviews claiming to be our close ones.
