In last 3 years, UP police has taking stringent action against land mafias in the state. Properties worth Rs 733 crore belonging to Mafias and their henchmen have been attached by the government.

New Delhi: Affirming zero tolerance policy against mafia dons and gangsters, UP CM Yogi Adityanath has been cracking down on ruffians and goons in the state which operated in previous regimes with impunity.

What shows CM Yogi’s firm commitment on eliminating mafia in the state is emphasised by stringent action on their illegal properties.
Under BJP regime, UP Police is wreaking havoc on the mafia dons, however, this has caused some resentment in opposition camp as some of them have come in defence of notorious gangster Mukhtar Ansari.

In last 3 years, UP police has taking stringent action against land mafias in the state. Properties worth Rs 733 crore belonging to Mafias and their henchmen have been attached by the government.

Besides this, the local administration is also identifying and razing illegal buildings of the Mafias and instead of supporting the state government, the opposition leaders are protesting it.

Police to bring Mukhtar Ansari from Punjab to UP

Meanwhile, Alka Rai, wife of former BJP MLA Krishna Nand Rai has accused Congress general secretary Priyanka Vadra of ‘protecting’ Mafias and ensuring that the Punjab government does not extend any kind of assistance to the UP in transferring Mafia Mukhtar Ansari from Punjab to UP jail.

“The state government filed a petition in the Supreme Court to bring back Mukhtar Ansari from Punjab jail to UP Jail. The Ghazipur police also went to Punjab with a notice to bring back Ansari to UP but the Punjab authorities did not accept it,” said Rai.

“When an order is being sent by the court to present Ansari, on what ground the Punjab jail officials are neglecting it. What are the reasons for not sending him back on the basis of the report of the medical board? This makes it clear that he is being provided political patronage in Punjab,” said A.K. Jain, former UP DGP.
