Cong delegation to meet Speaker Om Birla over ‘attack’ on party MPs by Delhi Police

Scores of Congress leaders & supporters have taken to the streets over questioning of Rahul Gandhi by the ED officials, accusing the Centre of vendetta politics.

New Delhi: Angry & upset over the atrocious behaviour of Delhi Police on its lawmakers & legislators, the Congress party is set to meet Lok Sabha speaker Om Birla and protest the high-handedness of cops and also their brazen show of power.

Scores of Congress leaders & supporters have taken to the streets over questioning of Rahul Gandhi by the ED officials, accusing the Centre of vendetta politics.

The Congress has accused the Delhi Police of browbeating them, illegally breaking into Congress HQs at Akbar Road and lathicharging party leaders as well as journalists.

The delegation will be led by the Leader of Congress party in the Lok Sabha Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury. The decision to raise the matter before LS Speaker was taken at the Congress Parliamentary Party office.

The party has also written to Rajya Sabha chairman Venkaiah Naidu, complaining about the behaviour that was meted out to them by the Delhi Police.

“The action of Delhi police is unprovoked and a brazen violation of all norms,” said the party in its press note.

The party has already filed a complaint in the Tughlak Road Police station, accusing the cops of bargin into the Cong HQs and attacking workers.

Rahul’s ED interrogation again on Friday

Meanwhile, the issue that galvanised Congress leaders & workers on the streets is not yet over. Rahul Gandhi has been again called for questioning at the ED office on Friday. Former Cong president has already questioned for 3 consecutive days on alleged charges of money laundering by the ED sleuths.
