Crackdown on Al-Qaeda sponsored outfits continue in UP; 3 more operatives arrested

The three Al Qaeda operatives have been identified as Mohammed Muyid, Shakeel and Mohammed Mustakim. All three were reportedly arranging logistics for carrying out some terror operation in different cities of the state.

New Delhi: Uttar Pradesh Police Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) on Wednesday arrested 3 more Al Qaeda operatives. in connection with the ‘human bomb’ plot case.

The three Al Qaeda operatives have been identified as Mohammed Muyid, Shakeel and Mohammed Mustakim. All three were reportedly arranging logistics for carrying out some terror operation in different cities of the state.

The arrests come days after UP ATS nabbed 2 terrorists belonging to Qaeda supported ‘Ansar Ghazwatul Hind’ from Lucknow.

UP ATS busts Al Qaeda terror module

On Sunday, the UP ATS arrested 2 terror suspects from Lucknow’s Kakori and recovered huge amount of explosive material.

ATS had received information that the arrested terror suspects were planning to carry out some major terror incidents in the state.

The ADG Law and Order) said that the two were “planning explosions at important places, memorials and crowded places, and also to use human bombs. For this, they were collecting weapons and explosives.”

“During interrogation, the accused persons said that their accomplices ran away from their house. The ATS team along with the local police has undertaken intensive checking,” Kumar said.
