“Don’t grow beard, get married; we will be your baraati”: Lalu tells Rahul at Opposition presser

“Now, you should think about marriage. You should get married, we are ready to be your baraatis”, RJD leader’s comment drew laughter among leaders & pressmen.

New Delhi: While Opposition parties held a joint press conference after marathon meet, a light-hearted comment by Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Yadav on Rahul Gandhi’s marriage drew attention of all and resulted in spell of laughter.

From Nitish Kumar to Rahul Gandhi to Mamata & Uddhav Thackeray, all asserted at the press meet that the united Opposition will topple Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government from power in 2024 elections.

However, when it came to Lalu’s turn, the RJD supremo, in his usual style, started off on a lighter note, evoking laughter from all. He urged Rahul Gandhi to get married soon and also reasoned that the timing could be no better after highly successful Bharat Padyatra and landslide victory in Karnataka.

Lalu also said that he along with all Opposition are ready to be his baraatis, if he decides to marry.

“Rahul ji, you should get married. Please listen to us. Your mother once urged me to convince you for marriage,” Lalu Yadav said.

Lalu Yadav also attacked the Modi government and accused it of spreading religious hatred and inciting communalism for electoral gains. He also said that the Opposition has got its house in order and the countdown has begun for Modi govt.

This was a big Opposition huddle in Patna, where more than 11 parties held a marathon meet to chart out its strategy to oust Narendra Modi government from power in 2024.
