New Delhi: As the nation observes the second anniversary of the revocation of Article 370 in Jammu & Kashmir, the valley witnessed explosions and gunfire near Jamia Masjid. An explosion took place near Srinagar’s Jamia Masjid this afternoon and was soon followed by a barrage of gunfire.

Vaibhav Palnitkar, a journalist with Hindi daily Dainik Bhaskar was witness to the entire incident. He has also shared video clips and details of the horrific incident that rocked the city after years of silence.

On his Twitter timeline, the journalist reports that a powerful explosion took place just metres away from where he was standing. This was followed by heavy rounds of gunfire. Police also retaliated and a gunbattle broke out.

He also shares video clips of himself and other people running for cover. He says that he took shelter in a nearby shop to save life. Post the explosion, a heavy posse of policemen and journalists assembled at the spot.
