New Delhi: In his consistent effort to make cheap and quality healthcare available to people of Uttar Pradesh at their doorstep, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is set to resume Chief Minister’s Jan Arogya Mela (Public Health Fair) soon.
These Public Health Fairs were launched in 2020 by CM Yogi but had to be stopped midway due to the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic. However, the State Government had managed to hold about seven health fairs, which benefitted 30 lakh people, before deciding to postpone it for an indefinite period. These were held every Sunday at all primary and community health centres.
Now that the second wave of corona infection is almost under control in the state due to the effective policy of Trace, Test, and Treat of the Chief Minister under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Government has decided to restart it in the larger interest of people.
Departmental officers have been instructed to prepare an action plan in this regard. The Jan Arogya Mela is expected to resume with Covid protocol in place.
30 lakh people benefit from Jan Arogya Mela
Having successfully brought the second wave of coronavirus fully under control, the Yogi Government aims to check all other diseases as well through the health fair.
The Health Department will be the nodal agency for this special campaign while the rest of the concerned departments will cooperate in this as before. The event will not only provide health benefits to people but will also become a platform to make them aware of various viral diseases, hazards of open defecation, as well as diseases caused by dirt and polluted water.
Apart from offering health services to the people, the fair will also provide detailed information about programmes like family welfare, nutrition and health awareness, Ayushman card, Mission Indradhanush, Khushal Parivar Divas, and Motherhood Vandana Diwas.
People’s health is the top priority of CM Yogi
To provide cheap and quality healthcare to the common man at his doorstep has been one of the top priorities of CM Yogi even when he was an MP. Improvement of Baba Raghav Das (BRD) Medical College in Gorakhpur, the establishment of Regional Center affiliated to Indian Virological Center, Pune, for the vaccination, treatment, and investigation of encephalitis that has been around for nearly four decades for the innocent people of Purvanchal, and the establishment of AIIMS in Gorakhpur bear testimony to CM Yogi’s keenness to protect people’s health and have a better health infrastructure in the state. He has struggled for it from the street to the Parliament.
Furthermore, he has provided modern and affordable treatment facilities to the people of Purvanchal by establishing Guru Shri Gorakshanath Hospital. Free camps were organised at the block level in the presence of specialist doctors for the investigation, treatment, and distribution of medicines to the people even in remote villages. And Yogi Adityanath continues his health mission even after becoming the Chief Minister of the state.
Golden Cards Issued To Over 2.46 People In A Week
In the first week of the special campaign i.e. between July 26 to 31, the Golden Cards were provided to over 2.46 lakh people of Uttar Pradesh. Through this card, any beneficiary can get free treatment up to Rs 5 lakh in any empaneled hospital across the country.
