
New Delhi: People over 45 years can be vaccinated from April 1, said Government on Tuesday.
“It has been decided that from 1st April, the vaccine will open for everybody above 45 years of age. We request that all eligible should immediately register and get vaccinated,” said Union Minister Prakash Javadekar.
“As per the advice by scientists & world scientist bodies, 2nd dose can be administered b/w 4th & 8th week, particularly for COVISHIELD. We appeal that all above 45 should take vaccine as early as possible that will provide them shield against Corona, ” he further said.

At present, only citizens aged between 45 and 60 with other illnesses were allowed to get themselves vaccinated.
As on Day-66 of the vaccination drive, more than 4.72 Cr COVID-19 vaccine doses were administered. More than 19.65 lakh vaccine doses were given till 7 pm on Monday.
Meanwhile, Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray today thanked the Centre for expanding vaccination to all citizens above 45 years. The Maha CMO also said that in a recent conversation, CM Uddhav Thackeray had requested PM Modi for the same.
In a recent VC with Hon’ble PM Shri @narendramodi, CM Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray had requested to open up COVID vaccination for all those over 45 years of age. The Union Cabinet has today decided to open it up for citizens over 45 years, for which the Hon’ble CM has thanked them.
