Gram Swarojgar Yojana: Making the Rural Youth Truly ‘Aatm-Nirbhar’

The UP government intends to create a platform for rural youths to have sustainable and self-reliant ways of living.

Lucknow, October 13, 2021: Aiming to transform the poor rural youth into an economically independent and globally employable workforce, the Uttar Pradesh government is making constant efforts by generating employment opportunities in the food processing sector.

Under the Mahatma Gandhi Food processing rural self-employment scheme, the youth is not only establishing their own business but are also generating employment opportunities to others. By availing benefits from the scheme, the farmers and youth of the village are becoming entrepreneurs and earning their livelihood.

The UP government intends to create a platform for rural youths to have sustainable and self-reliant ways of living. For this, skill training is being provided to them so that along with the youth, the villages can be developed too.

Govt imparts training to the youths for setting up food processing units: 

At the Panchayat level, the youth is being linked to 3-day food processing awareness camp through the Mahatma Gandhi Food Processing rural self-employment scheme. One-month entrepreneurship development training is being given to the youth associated with the scheme.

After being trained, the farmers and youth are setting up units of fruit-vegetable, spices, milk, grain processing, among others. They are also providing employment opportunities to other unemployed youth of the village.

Under the scheme, a maximum of 50 percent of the cost of the machine or equipment and a grant of Rs. 1 lakh is also being given to the youth set up a food processing unit.
