Hathras case: Call records show victim’s brother was in touch with accused Sandeep, say reports

Hathras case keeps getting a new twist. From gangrape to planned conspiracy by PFI members to create unrest, it has now emerged that the victim’s brother and accused Sandeep used to talk to each other on phone.

New Delhi: In a development that will leave many baffled and bewildered in the Hathras case, it has come to light that the victim’s brother was in touch with main accused Sandeep through phone.

“Rather they were ‘friends’ and used to talk on phone,” Zee News said in its Exclusive report citing phone data records.

The call records accessed by Zee News shows that the accused Sandeep was in regular touch with victim’s family via a phone number and that number was registered in name of victim’s brother. As call records suggest, the two numbers (victim’s family and accused) have had a conversation upto 5 hours in between October 2019 and March 2020.

Call records give shocking details

Though call records show long conversations, apparently between accused and victim’s brother, the latter has refused to admit the same, reports Zee News.

Brother’s denial raises another pertinent question – If victim’s brother was not talking to main tormentor, then who from the family was having a conversation with him.

Zee News further reports that some residents of the village claimed that the accused and Hathras victim had a love affair and it was opposed by both the families. Family members of other accused have also denied the gangrape charge, saying that their son was too innocent to indulge in such activity.

3 accused were not on spot, say villagers

Ramu, one of the accused was working at a dairy plant when the incident took place. And, it was also confirmed by the dairy plant owner, who said that Ramu was working at his plant.

Ravi, another accused was not in the village on day of alleged gangrape. Onkar Singh, a villager who claims himself to be witness of incident says, “On 14th, I was going to the field from the village and I saw. Sandeep along with his father was giving water to the cow. There was a sound of groaning coming from the field and the girl’s brother and her mother were standing there. The girl was lying in the field. The girl’s brother was telling her to take only Sandeep’s name.”

“The mother of fourth accused Lavkush claimed that she had sent her son to give water to the victim who was lying injured in the field,” reported the leading daily.

Also, Hathras victim’s family members had initially alleged only strangulation attempt in their initial police complaint in the case. Gangrape charge was added in the second FIR, only 8 days after the alleged sexual assault.

Forensic report as well as Post-mortem report have also not confirmed rape of the victim. It said that the victim died of grievous neck injury.

Govt officials have clearly stated that a plot was hatched overnight to malign the Yogi government, blaming PFI members for orchestrating manufactured protests against the alleged gangrape.

With this revelation, again the larger question arises – If any rape took place in Hathras on Sept 14?
