Health Minister targeted for ‘poor English’; this is how netizens shut down trolls

Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya has been under firing line of trollers who have been critical of derisive of his English skills. But, the trollers got a taste of their own when politicians and netizens backed Mandaviya and denounced the former.

New Delhi: Soon after Mansukh Mandaviya was appointed as Union Health Minister, a group of propaganda makers and lobbyists digged out his previous tweets to mock the Minister. The tweets that were doing the rounds included the ones that indicated Mandaviya’s difficulty in communicating in English. Trollers sought to deride the Minister by reposting his previous tweets like –“Happy indipedent day” or “Mahatma gandhiji is our nation of father”.

This unfortunately has been a very common and popular trend on social media to mock and insult an individual based on their English pronunciation or grammar. Though, no such trolling takes place when it comes to poor proficiency in other Indian languages.

Leaders & netizens alike denounce trolls

However, some rare and positive events took place when not just BJP and supporters, but also the leaders from opposition parties begin backing up Mandaviya and denounce the trolls.

“If the only criticism you hold against a minister is his proficiency in English rather than his work, it only reflects your shallowness. Just saying,” tweeted Shiv Sena leader and Rajya Sabha MP Priyanka Chaturvedi.

Trollers shown the mirror by some

Some other Twitter users took this opportunity to mock the trollers of their hypocrisy.

Coming from a govt school in a small town, I learnt English pretty late. Have done well in my professional and personal life so far. Better than many wokes who are busy judging people on their English language skills.
